She slouches her shoulders
unconsciously protecting her heart
but it only creates an aching knot
near her scapula.
She knows it’s futile
that there is no protection out here
with waves crashing all about.
Just the slow grind
of pain chasing pleasure.
She sees that she must
swim into the only safe place,
beyond time and space
that quiet cove of Love.
And so she calls
to the Redeemer
the One sent
to guide her Home.
In that Radiance, she knows—
no protection necessary
no slouching shoulders,
for all is a great love ocean.
No harm, nor heartache
can come to the eternal one
for all is she
and she is Thee.
Your poem is beautiful, Lesley! I wondered, is that why I unconsciously slouch? You eloquently offered the only response to the reality that there is no safe haven in the world. I have a new visual of swimming into the Cove of Love, where no protection is necessary. Only love opens the tight grip of fear. Thank you, sweet devotee! Much love, Jamie
Thank you, Jamie, for your inspiring addition to this contemplation. “Only love opens the tight grip of fear.” What a beautiful and true statement. Fortunately we have waves of It washing over us anytime we ask.
Love Jamie’s comments. We are born of water, we are attracted to water — ARE mostly water in fact, and we will return to that swimmingly peaceful Ocean of Peace once we arrive into that precious Cove of Love. Beautiful imagery here, Lesley. It is a lovely, reflective, and comforting poem. Many thanks for sharing it.
Thank you, Rudy. I too found this poem comforting when the Beloved brought it through. I so appreciate your reminder of how watery we are inside and out. Its a testament to who we really are, as we come to realize it.
lovely, Leslie!
