Be a service dog for consciousness
shepherding patience into the world.
Lie at your Master’s feet
awaiting Its direction
panting for Its every whim.
Walk with that Power
alert for moments to aid
with your simple Presence
the sick
the hungry
the empty hearts
the lost souls wandering like zombies
life’s endless cul-de-sac.
One lick of your tongue
brightens the whole Universe.
The service dog never whines
never says “This is too much—
I must escape this Master!”
No
The service dog wags its tail
eager to Love.

Thank you, Lesley, for the perfectly crafted, inspiring images of what it means to truly serve the Divine Master. Couldn’t have come at a better time!
Much Love,
Dan
Thank you, Dan. I’m happy you enjoyed this. The other day I was swimming and a woman came to the pool with her service dog. I was impressed by the patient attentiveness of this animal as his master climbed into the pool and swam, the dog lying by her lane waiting. The poem sprang forth the next day. 🙂
Lesley you have captured perhaps the single most quality I love the most in dogs — their tireless and endless devotion to their master. They are such perfect mirrors– the day that I am as devoted to the Master as all of my beloved dogs were to me, I’ll be Home : )
Just wonderful Lesley….how we all yearn to be like the dog in all of it’s reflections…:)
IDEAL imagery!
